Week 25 - Cauliflower meets Turkey Day

Oh babe!  You have had such a busy week.  It's a good thing you are still an internal co-pilot, because lugging you around has been no big deal ;) At this point, the only thing I'm trying to figure out is...How is it almost December!?!

Here is a recap of your week:

• Thanksgiving trip to Hays, Ellinwood and GB.  You got to see all your Grandparents, and some of your other family members you will get to meet in a few short months.  You even stopped by the hospital to cheer up Fr. Chuck.

• Black Friday shopping.  Now, your Mom is not crazy enough to head to the stores and have people ram into you with their carts, oh no.  We stick to online.  You even helped your "sisters", Benjamin and Otis, submit their Christmas list to Santa.  (They want a new bed. They must have been really jealous of the bed you got). We did managed to get some really great deals online.  You are already a little shopper in training!

• Christmas decorating.  You helped put up our Jayhawk Christmas tree this week.  You also helped decorate your Grandma and Grandpas house.  Such a little helper you are ;)  Here is some of your handiwork:

(Don't worry, you will get to see the Jayhawk tree in person, unless you wait until April to come, which then means...you're grounded)

• Today we opened you a savings account.  It's never to early to start saving your dollars, Baby Corbie.  Your Great Gram made your very first deposit as her shower gift to you.  Your Dad and I decided to match it, so you could start earning interest.  Your Grandma Kathy thought she might get to learn your name when we opened you an account, but she was wrong :)  It gets to remain our little secret...

•You witnessed your first Jayhawk loss of the season.  (That's why you were hearing your mom yell and jump around. Don't worry, you will get used to that ;) ) Maybe they just got that out of their system, or at least we hope so.

Tomorrow we head back home to finish up decorating and enjoying the rest of our break.  Happy Thanksgiving week!

Week 24 - Cakes and a Cantaloupe

This has by far been my busiest cake month in a while.  I have spent a decent amount of my free time baking away, and this week was no different.  After this week, I only have some cookies to bake for Thanksgiving.  I'm definitely looking forward to having some down time and some time away from work (Next week it's...."Helloooo 4 day weekend!")

On Monday, we finished up our baby registry.  It was actually pretty fun, and I think Jay had a good time scanning away.  Apparently, Jay thinks that all babies need are bibs and bath toys.  We ended up with like 30 bibs....needless to say, I went back and removed a few of those.  Maybe he is just trying to help us avoid laundry?!

Speaking of registry, I did something real dumb on Monday.  After coming home from Babies 'R Us, I was reviewing our two registries, making sure I didn't want to adjust anything.  Well I was trying to remove one item from our Target registry (just one) and I deleted the whole. darn. thing.  Who does that?! Well, apparently I do.  And then for the next 2 hours, I got to rebuild it (while I would randomly say "Hey Jay, remember when I deleted our registry..........ugh").   I'm looking at it this way, if it made it back on there a second time, I must really want it :)

Also, Jay has apparently caught the baby shopping bug.  We went to lunch and he surprised me with his first baby girl purchase.   How cute is this?!?!  (side note: we are in major trouble because I have a feeling Dad is going to be an easy tap)

Other than that, Babe has really been moving around.  Mostly when I lay down to sleep.  Jay has felt her a couple times, and I'm waiting for her to kick Benjamin or Otis, because I think it's going to be hilarious.  I have been very fortunate not to be experiencing any "fun" side effects like swollen feet, aching back or leg cramps.  And, if we could just keep it that way, I would be okay with that :)  112-ish days to go!

Week 23 - The Grapefruit & Game Time

Welcome to Week 23!  Quite honestly, the time has gone by pretty fast (well besides the morning/all day sickness.  That felt like a lifetime)  I can't believe in less than 4 months we will have a precious baby girl on our hands.  Big sisters, Benjamin & Otis, have no idea what is coming for them :)  We may need to work on baby acceptance over the next 17 weeks, lol.

We visited the doctor this week and baby girl is doing just perfect!  She should be around 1 1/4 lbs and about the size of a grapefruit.  Next time we go to the doctor I have to do the glucose test, which I am not really looking forward to.

Other news, a big event happened this week....Jay finally felt baby Corbie kick!  His argument that "she stops anytime I try to feel her" is no longer valid.  His response was "good grief, what the heck is she doing in there!?"  lol.  Thanks baby girl, I was tired of your father pouting :)

Let's talk about one of my major struggles with having a girl....I want to buy everything in site.  I see bows, ruffles, ribbons, jeggins, baby sperrys...and I have a sudden urge to spend.  (not that I have, but that urge is definitely there)  I already have a shopping problem, and this is merely amplifying that.  I feel like since its a girl, this is probably a little more enhanced.  Girl stuff is oh. so. cute.  She may need a bigger closet, lol.

As far as baby projects go, I have started working on the ruffled crib skirt.  Grandma has finished working on bumper pads, and my mom has picked up the fabric for a quilt.  Won't be long and all the pieces for the nursery will all come together.

And since basketball season has officially begun, here is what our new countdown looks like!  Rock Chalk!

Week 22 - The Wardrobe of a Pregger

We have officially made it to the 5 month mark!  Wahoo!  Four more months and this little karate kid will be making her big debut.  I am anticipating this last 4 months will probably fly by, with Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, etc.  (It always seems that time of year goes by quick anyways, but I'm sure this year I will enjoy some of the distractions, even more.)

Not a lot of excitement this week.  I have been extremely busy at work and making cakes.  I had a new employee start Monday, in the middle of my month end close, which in turn means I work until 6:30-7 each night.  (I'll be excited when that's over!)  This next week I have our quarterly sales meeting, so I'm sure it will be more of the same.

So since this week has been kinda boring, I have decided to share my pregger wardrobe.  I have spoke before of my distaste for maternity threads, and I have worked really hard to come up with some outfits that work with my style. I have been dressing up everyday, and almost everyday I hear "they never had cute maternity clothes like that when I was pregnant."  Let me help, they still don't.  I had to really search and scour my closet, the internet, and stores to find a few items I could wear.... and would consider wearing.

Behold, my pregger finds....
