Week 29 - Twas the Night Before a Corbett Christmas...

Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the Corbett house
not a creature was stirring, well...except Benjamin & Otis.
Your stocking was hung on our mantle with care,
in hopes that in 11 short weeks your arrival would be here....

Your father was nestled all snug in his bed,
while visions of Royals opening day danced in his head.
And your mother in her lounge pants, usually accompanied by a cat
Had just settled in for what is...at this point...a nap

Then there's something about a sleigh, reindeer and an overweight gentleman.....
blah blah blah
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Happy 29 weeks, babe!
You are the size of an acorn squash (or a butternut squash)
11 more weeks to go!

You had a checkup this week, and are doing just fine.
You get to have a sonogram next week again, because you were uncooperative last time and they couldn't get a good picture of your spine.  (you were all curled up so cuddly, and apparently had no intention of moving out of that position).  It was there in your anatomy scan....and last time I checked, those things don't just disappear.  Maybe you just like your photo taken :)

We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a blessed New Year!  We are definitely looking forward to what 2014 has in store for us :)

Week 28 - The Eggplant & a Snow Storm

Happy 3rd Trimester!  Wahoo!  12 more weeks to go! You are the size of an eggplant, babe! You are growin' like a lil weed and weighing in at a little over 2 lbs.  You are starting to work on all the finishing touches, getting ready for your big arrival.   I just read that I can look forward to lack of sleep in the next 12 weeks....oh yay.

We received a few gifts for the babe this week.  (And so it begins!)  She will be ready for bath time in this cute little bath & water thermometer  :)  Thank you to the Westfall/Woods!

We also received a Christmas gift for the babe from the Chamberlin's.  Yay for extremely adorable girly clothes/accessories!  The cupcake pacifier clip is so appropriate.  She is going to love it!

Other than that, I am relaxin indoors due to the first real ice/snow storm of the season.  Jay got out and got in touch with his inner child today by going sledding.  (I'm just happy he came back in one piece.)  We have finished up some Christmas gifts, cleaned up the house, and are almost all ready for the holidays.  We are excited for Christmas next week, and New Years the following week!

Time is flying!  Only about 80 more days until we get to officially meet our Baby Corbie!

Week 27 - What the heck is a rutabaga!?

So, it's week 27.  Happy "last week of second trimester", Babe!

You are the size of a rutabaga, and honestly, I had no idea what that was...So, I googled it.  (I feel like if we are going to use fruit and vegtables for reference, they should stick to common ones, that people have actually heard of). At any rate, after limited google research, I still know nothing about a rutabaga except it grows in the ground, and it like a cross between a turnip and cabbage.  I got a second opinion at parents.com for a week-by week fruit comparison, that says you should be the size of cauliflower, which I thought was a vegetable, but what do I know.  Moving on...

We had our last monthly appointment Tuesday.  It's every two weeks now!  Babe gave us a bit of a scare, because while the doctor was checking everything, I was told my belly was measuring small.  We had to go in the next day for a sonogram, to make sure Babe was still growing ok.  Ugh.  Given everything I had going on at work, and then that....to say I was overwhelmed was an understatement.

So Wednesday, we went in for a sonogram.  *side note: when they show those ladies, all happy to be getting a sonogram, that is a load of bull.  What they forget to mention is the fact that you feel like you are going to wet yourself, because you have had to, what feels like, drink your weight in water for the hour and a half prior to that.  Then you get to have some sonogram tech test your bladder by pushing on your belly for 15-30 min.  Ok, rant over :D *.  Good news is that she is growing just fine!  She is in the 50th percentile and weighs 2 lbs.  Apparently she is just a big fan of curling up in a ball, because she had a lot of space in there and she wasn't really using 1/2 of it.

One positive of another sonogram, is that we got to confirm that she is still a "she". That should put to rest some of my dreams about having a boy that only has pink stuff to wear :). That's also good news given that we received some pretty great items in the mail today.  How cute are these!?!

Her closet is slowly starting to fill up!  Won't be long and she will be putting all those threads and accessories to use :)

Week 26 - Lettuce & Nesting?

Babe, this week you are the size of a head of lettuce.  You are weighing in at a whopping 1.5 - 2.5 lbs.  And besides messing with your mother's bladder, you have been busy growing eyelashes.  You're probably going to need those to get your dad to do whatever you want ;)  Keep up the good work!

I have been completely exhausted this week.  Completely.  ( like "it's 5'oclock on Sunday and I'm considering going to bed" kind of exhausted)  After a crazy work week (which seems to be happening a lot lately), all I wanted to do this weekend was lay around.  I think my average time to get home this whole week was 7:30, which doesn't leave much time to do anything else.

And then I woke up Saturday, and noticed how the housework had been neglected all...week....long.  And I had a cake to decorate.  So laying around wasn't really an option.  Jay came home for lunch and was apparently feeling brave enough to ask "are you nesting?"  I think I muttered something like "I will cut you" under my breath and then proceed to say something like "it's called cleaning, I'd love to introduce you to it" :)
We took some pictures today, so that we could send out some Christmas cards.  We just happened to pick one of the coldest days so far.  (Figures.)  Annnnddd..... it's really icy out.  (double bonus!)  But, besides being cold and a little slick, we managed to get a few good pics.  While I will wait to post some of our photos until after we get our cards sent out, I did want to post one.  During our photo shoot, Jay wanted to compare bellies.  And, since he thinks he is soooo funny, I'm willing to show my sense of humor as well...
